Title

Halloween Cemetery Tour Ticket

Description

Norway Historical Society and the Universalist Unitarian Church, Norway held tours of Rustfield Cemetery October 30 and 31. This was in lieu of the Norway Trolley Tour in September. This was a way for the public to appreciate some of Norway's history outside and in a socially distanced way. There were people standing beside the cemeteries of Norway's prominent citizens reading narrations about their lives. They were dressed in period costume. It was intriguing to hear about how some of these citizens and their children perished from diseases like consumption and scarlet fever which in that time was like the COVID-19 of today. Only 20 people were allowed on each tour so ten people went with one tour guide and ten with another so that we could move about in a distanced way. It got a little chilly but it added to the atmosphere.
