Join Our Collaboration
Libraries, historical societies, museums, schools, and community organizations are invited to join our collaborative effort to document Maine community members' experiences of current events.
Create a local collecting project
Document local experiences and contribute to the historical record by collecting stories, images, and other materials from your community. Maine State Library is providing access to Omeka.net, which allows individual organizations to build their own digital archives site. We have resources to help get you started! You can also join a project that is already in progress (see our list of participating partners) or work with other cultural heritage institutions in your region.
Cooperate on shared outreach
Participating organizations work together to spread the word about our collaboration and encourage engagement with local projects. Join our Facebook group, share social media prompts, and participate in outreach activities including themed submission drives, collaborative exhibits, and public events.
Engage and learn with us
The Maine Contemporary Archives Collaborative meets monthly to exchange ideas, share expertise, and offer general assistance and encouragement as we develop our projects. We also host skill shares where members of the group and other professionals speak on topics of interest. Past topics have included digital preservation, oral history interviews, and connecting with educators.
